Franco-Fuxéens

 1462. Après avoir maté la révolte de son beau-frère le prince de Viane en 1456, Gaston IV de Foix se trouve en bonne position pour succéder à son beau-père le roi de Navarre, dont il est lieutenant général. Il sert aussi d'intermédiaire dans les négociations entre le nouveau roi de France, Louis XI, et le roi de Navarre. Louis XI veut s'emparer du Roussillon  et doit pour cela s'assurer la neutralité du beau-père de Gaston IV: c'est chose faite grâce aux nouvelles révoltes fomentées contre lui, qui servent de plus de prétexte à une intervention armée. En juillet, l'ost royal s'assemble à Toulouse, fort de 700 gendarmes et 1400 archers des compagnies d'ordonnance et 4000 francs-archers, renforcés par 100 hommes d'armes et 800 arbalétriers menés par Gaston en personne...

  1462. After having defeated the revolt of his brother in law, the prince of Viane, in 1456, Gaston IV of Foix is in good position to succeed to his father in law, the king of Navarre. He also acts as an intermediary in the negociations between the new king of France, Louis XI, and the king of Navarre. Louis XI wants to take the Roussillon th his spanish foreign, the king of Castilla, and so must obtain Navarre's neutrality: it's done  thanks to the new revolts that break out in Navarre, and that act as an excuse for the troopsgathering. In july, the royal ost gathers in Toulouse, strong of 700 ordinance men-at-arms, 1400 ordinance longbowmen and 4000 francs-archers, and joined  by 100 men-at-arms and 800 crossbowmen led by Gaston himself...

Une nouvelle armée pour un nouveau blog...

    Le XVè siècle est mon péché mignon, et les figurines des frères Perry est absolument magnifique. Je me devais donc de lancer un projet mettant les deux en jeu, en utilisant leur gamme Guerre des deux Roses. Restait à choisir l'armée: l'ordonnance bourguignonne aurait été un choix logique, mais trop courant, surtout dans mon club; j'ai un moment envisagé les Anglais, mais trop classique, et puis je ne veux pas prendre part au complot des Anglais visant à conquérir le monde via le wargame :D. Je me suis finalement tourné vers une armée mixte composée de compagnies d'ordonnance françaises et de troupes de la principauté de Foix Béarn.

  I am fond of the XVth century's history, and Perry models are absolutly wonderful so I had to make a project using both of them, with their War of the Roses range. Then I had to choose which army I would play: I have discarded Burgundian ordinance and War of the Roses English because they are too much played, so I have decided to play a combined army with troops from the Foix-Bearn principality and french ordinance companies.

   Je me suis inspiré de la biographie de Gaston IV par Guillaume Leseur: il décrit une expédition française en Catalogne et Castille en 1462 pour laquelle Gaston a été désigné lieutenant général du roi. Il donne la composition des troupes ainsi que les noms de quelques capitaines, dont je me servirai pour faire les bannières.

 I am inspired by Gaston IV's biography written by Guillaume Leseur: he describes a French expedition in Catalogna and Castilla in 1462, led by Gaston IV as the King's general lieutenant. He gives the troops fielded and some captain's names, which I will use to make the standards.

Des Romains

 Pour inaugurer ce blog, voici une fin d'armée: les Romains Impériaux que ma copine m'a offerts pour Noël. C'est du speed painting, l'armée complète a été peinte en trois mois environ, malgré les périodes de creux (c'est une armée moyennement motivante à peindre disons...). Toutes les figurines sont des Warlord Games, en plastique pour la plupart (les deux officiers, les deux chiens et les cavaliers sont les seules en métal).

To begin with this blog, there is the end of my first historical army, that my girlfriend gave me for Christmas. It is speed painted, the full army has been painted in nearly three months. All figures are from Warlord games, mostof them are plastic models (only the two officers, their dogs and the riders are metal models).

I only have the Praetorians et an other auxiliary cavalry unit left to paint, and then I will have finished 3000 pts for CoE (or 2500 for WAB)
